Some customers say that the best feature of our chicken tractors is what it does for the soil – even above chicken health and egg nutrition. The chicken droppings revitalize the soil health and promote the growth of healthy microbes.

Aluminum: Naturally corrosion resistant to make a coop that will last a lifetime. We use T5 & T6 aluminum so ensure you get value and structural integrity. |

TIG Welding: This method allows for a precise weld, with the heat and material being controlled by the welder for a lasting bond. TIG welding is an art that few master – it is on full display on an Alumi-Coop! |

Shelter-Rite Covers: Manufactured with American-made marine-grade vinyl, each cover is precision cut by a CNC machine, hand sewn with nylon thread, and finished with stainless steel grommets. These covers fit snugly and shed water like a duck! |

Netting: Our netting is made in the USA to exacting specifications. We use 2.5 x 2.5cm 1.6mm thick steel netting that is galvanized after welding to prevent corrosion. Our custom roll formers flatten the netting, making it neat and flat. |

Wheel System: The Alpha-Lite wheel system uses leverage to raise the coop. This makes movement easier as does the extra large solid wheels (no flat tyres here!). |
The Homesteader chicken tractor coop by Alumi Coop is suitable for:
- Laying Hens: 10 – 30
- Broilers: 24 – 40
- Ducks: 12 – 20
- Turkeys: 8 – 15
What about foxes attacking mobile chicken coops?
The coops are a strong defense against foxes and a coops frequent movement disrupts the fox instinct to plan an attack days in advance. In fact, we have not yet had one customer report a fox accessed their Alumi Coop across Australia. However, if you have a strong concern about foxes you can add our Pred-X hotwire kit to your coop. This kit attaches to your coop to run an adjustable height hotwire around the base of the coop. Check out our Pred-X hotwire kits here.

Great Investment. We decided to invest in the The Homesteader Chicken Tractor as we were sick of foxes and eagles taking our chickens. I did wonder if the chickens would be happy closed in all the time as they had a very large run previously. They love it however, as we move the cage every two days so they have a fresh pick of greenery and happily scratch around safe from foxes and eagles. We have set ours up with a hotwire attached just as an extra safe guard to keep the foxes away. While they are expensive, they are sturdy and worth saving up for. Brendan was very helpful too and answered all out questions promptly.

Hi Melissa, thank you for the review. As someone who has lost chickens to eagles as well (https://www.cluckington.com.au/keeping-chickens-safe-from-aerial-predators-eg-eagles/) in years past I understand the frustrations. We hope you have many, many years of successful and safe chicken keeping.

So happy with it. Easy to assemble, took me back to being a kid playing with Mecano. Very functional, sturdy and secure. The only thing I switched out was the roosting bars. Easy to move around. Very happy with my purchase.

Chickens love it. What a great coop for the chickens. It was easy for my son-in-law to assemble, plenty of room for the girls to forage…water and feed safe from rodents and they get ‘new accommodation’ every day …what’s not to love ?

Hello! Thanks for your review!! We recently exhibited at a farm expo and a boiler maker was looking over our product. He agreed with you – the workmanship is A1. This is mainly because the build is done by the Amish people in the USA and they are master craftsman. I hope you enjoy your coop and get many, many years of great service from it.

Love our Homesteader Chicken Tractor, it was quite easy to put together and has been out in all weathers since. Our chooks are very happy. The only change we have made was swapping out the metal perch bars to timber. Although dearer than most on the market they are very well put together and very easy to manoeuvre around. Would highly recommend them.

Thanks for the great feedback!!!! The only downside of the wooden bars is that mites can breed in them. You may not have this problem (fingers crossed) but if you do the aluminium bars as a good option that could help. We have found our chooks have no problems roosting on the aluminium bars. We hope you have MANY years of great functionality and enjoyment from the coop.
